POLICY

Safeguarding Policy

Women Connect International is fundamentally committed to protecting the safety, dignity, and wellbeing of all diaspora women, partners, and community members.

Our Commitment

Women Connect International operates with a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of harassment, abuse, exploitation, or discrimination. Because our work inherently intersects with trauma, vulnerability, and cross-border migration, maintaining emotionally, physically, and digitally safe spaces is not supplementary to our mission — it is the prerequisite.

Scope and Application

This policy applies globally and universally to everyone representing or engaging with WCI, including but not limited to:

  • Staff & Leadership: Employees, directors, and institutional partners.
  • Volunteers & Ambassadors: Facilitators, mentors, and local representatives.
  • Program Participants: Diaspora women, aid recipients, and platform users.
  • Network Members: Anyone active on the WCI digital community platform.

Core Principles

1. Do No Harm (Trauma-Informed Design)

Our spaces are designed to avoid re-traumatization. We actively vet content, moderate discussions, and provide clear opt-in/opt-out mechanisms for sensitive topics.

2. Confidentiality & Psychological Safety

Peer healing circles and mentoring environments rely on absolute confidentiality. Breaches of this trust result in immediate removal from the ecosystem.

3. Digital Security

We employ strict data protection measures and encourage participants to use platform pseudonyms if operating from contexts where their identity requires protection.

Reporting a Concern

If you have experienced, witnessed, or suspect a safeguarding violation within the WCI ecosystem, we strongly encourage you to report it immediately. Reports are treated with the highest degree of confidentiality and are reviewed directly by the executive safeguarding committee.

How to Report

You can raise concerns through our dedicated, confidential channels:

  • Email: [email protected]
  • Anonymous Form: Available in the logged-in dashboard under "Support".

Policy Review

This policy is actively monitored for effectiveness and is formally reviewed by the leadership team on an annual basis to ensure it aligns with evolving best practices in digital safety and trauma-informed care.
